2. Hosting and Server Log Files
This website is hosted on servers in Germany. When the website is accessed, the web server automatically collects data in so-called server log files: IP address of the requesting device, date and time of access, file/URL accessed, referrer URL, browser used and operating system. This data is used exclusively to ensure trouble-free operation, system security and error analysis, and is automatically deleted after a short time. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). We have a data processing agreement in place with our hosting provider (Art. 28 GDPR).
3. SSL/TLS Encryption
For security reasons, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the “https://” prefix and the padlock symbol in your browser bar.
4. Web Analytics with Matomo (self-hosted, without cookies)
We use the open-source web analytics software Matomo in a self-hosted variant. Matomo runs entirely on our own server; no data is transferred to third parties. The analysis is carried out without cookies, and IP addresses are shortened (anonymised) before storage, so that no direct personal reference can be established. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the statistical evaluation of usage to improve our offering (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). You can additionally object to this data collection:

5. Contacting Us
If you contact us by email or telephone, we process your details (e.g. name, email address, content of the enquiry) in order to handle the enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, insofar as the enquiry is connected with a contract, and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for processing and no statutory retention obligations preclude deletion.
6. User Account
You can create a free account to place listings, use the watchlist and receive notifications. In doing so, we process the details provided during registration (name or display name, email address, password in encrypted form) as well as the details you enter yourself in your account or provider profile (e.g. company, location, telephone number, logo). The legal basis is the performance of the terms of use (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).
When logging in, WordPress sets technically necessary cookies that keep you logged in during the session. They are required for the operation of the account (§ 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG) and are deleted upon logout or after the session expires. No cookies are set without an account.
You can have your account deleted at any time — by sending us a message. We will then delete the account data; content that is subject to statutory retention obligations or that remains as an archive under item 7 will be separated from personal contact data.
7. Marketplace: Listings and Provider Profile
If you place a listing for a vehicle or part, we publish the content of the listing (text, images, videos, vehicle data, price) and the details from your provider profile that you have released for display — for private sellers, the display name and location; for commercial sellers, additionally the company, address and the telephone number provided. Your email address is not displayed on the listing page.
Listings are public and are indexed by search engines. After the listing period ends, the listing page remains as an archive entry (see Terms of Use, item 6); the contact channels are removed in the process. Upon request, we will also remove personal details from archived listings.
For each listing we store usage figures (views, number of enquiries, number of watchlist entries) without reference to individual visitors. The legal basis is the performance of the terms of use (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) as well as our legitimate interest in a functioning marketplace (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
Listings taken over from the inventory of MOTORSPORT24 GmbH (motorsport24.de) do not contain any data from users of this website.
8. Enquiries to Providers
You can send a message to the provider via the enquiry form on a listing page. In doing so, we process your name, your email address, optionally your telephone number, the text of your message, the relevant listing and the time. The message is delivered to the provider by email; you receive a copy.
We do not initially pass on your email address to the provider: replies are routed via a forwarding address at s14.de (anfrage-…@markt.s14.de), which we retrieve automatically and forward to the respective other party. For this purpose, we store the forwarded messages together with sender, recipient and timestamp, and note which addresses the parties reply from, so that the assignment remains reliable. As soon as you exchange direct contact details, the forwarding ends. From the timestamps we determine how quickly and reliably providers respond; this value appears as an aggregated metric in the provider profile and on the provider box of a listing.
Every enquiry is logged by us (content, contact details, listing, a form of your IP address hashed with a secret value). The log is visible only to the operators and serves to detect misuse, to provide traceability in the event of disputes, and to prove delivery. To protect against automated enquiries, we limit the number of enquiries per IP address per hour; for this purpose, the IP address is temporarily stored in hashed form for one hour.
If the provider has replied to you, we will write to you once, a few days later, and ask how the contact went. Responding is voluntary; if you do not reply, nothing further happens. If you provide feedback, we store your selection (one of three levels), the time, and any voluntarily entered text. Both belong to the enquiry process and are therefore attributable to us as the operator of this enquiry. The provider sees neither your selection nor your text nor who the feedback is from — they only see a value aggregated from many pieces of feedback, and only once a minimum number of responses has been reached. The link in this email expires after 30 days.
If you select “Similar listings by email” when sending, we note this request in order to inform you later of matching listings; you can withdraw this at any time.
Legal bases: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (initiation of a contract at your request) and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (protection against misuse, assignment of replies, quality of the marketplace, feedback for assessing providers). We delete the log of an enquiry — including any feedback given together with free text — twelve months after the last message in that process, provided no retention obligations or ongoing disputes preclude this.
9. Watchlist and Notifications
As a logged-in user, you can save listings to your watchlist. We store the watchlist and your notification settings in your account. On this basis, we send you emails when the price of a saved listing changes, it is reserved or sold, or a new listing of the same model line appears. You can individually disable each of these notifications in your account. The legal basis is the performance of the terms of use (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR).
10. Email Delivery
We send emails related to accounts, listings, enquiries and the watchlist via our own server in Germany. When receiving replies to the forwarding addresses, we retrieve the associated mailbox automatically; it is located with the same hosting provider with whom a data processing agreement is in place.
11. AI-Assisted Text Processing
For the editorial preparation of listing texts and for translating content into English, we use a language model from Anthropic PBC (USA) via its application programming interface. Only the texts to be processed — titles, descriptions, vehicle data — are transmitted, but not contact details, messages from enquiries, or account data. The transfer to the USA takes place on the basis of the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR); under the provider’s terms of contract, the data is not used to train models. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in consistent, comprehensible and bilingual content (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
12. Embedded Videos (YouTube)
Some listings contain videos hosted on YouTube. When the listing page is accessed, initially only a preview image is loaded, which is hosted on our own server — no connection to YouTube is made. Only when you click on a video is it loaded from YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, Dublin); in doing so, Google receives your IP address and may process its own data, including in the USA. The legal basis is your consent given by clicking (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, § 25 (1) TDDDG). Further details can be found in Google’s privacy policy.
13. Your Rights
Subject to the statutory requirements, you have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and objection to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw any consent given at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority; the authority responsible for us is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
14. Storage Duration
Insofar as this privacy policy does not specify a more particular storage period, personal data will remain with us until the purpose of processing no longer applies or you submit a legitimate request for deletion — subject to statutory retention obligations.
15. Currency of This Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026. We will adjust this policy as soon as new features go live (e.g. newsletter sign-up, cookie consent, user accounts or the marketplace) — the relevant sections will be added before the respective feature becomes active.
