01 · Overview

The diesel experiment in the flagship

With the 740d, BMW ventured its first V8 diesel in company history in 1999: the M67, with 3.9 litres, common-rail and biturbo induction, produced 245 PS and a hefty 560 Nm — performance on par with the 740i at significantly lower fuel consumption.

It was built only briefly until the end of the model line in 2001, and only as a Sedan — making it correspondingly rare today. A car for connoisseurs with an appreciation for technical history and respect for parts availability.
