Most images on s14.de come from free sources — properly licensed, with the author and licence credited alongside the image. But for many vehicles, there’s simply nothing usable out there. And the best photos are sitting in private garages anyway. If you have one: we’d love to show it, with your name underneath.
What we’re looking for
- Vehicles from the E model lines — everything up to and including the E-numbers, from the 02 to the E9x. Series production, special editions, tuner conversions.
- Details rather than just full views — engine bays, badges, gear selectors, interiors, lettering. It’s precisely these that we’re missing almost entirely.
- Motorsport archive — paddocks, races, club meetings, including old paper prints and slides.
A phone photo from the garage is better to us than no photo at all. We’ll tell you honestly whether we can use it.
How it works
- You write to us — via the contact form, with the subject line “Bildrechte / Foto anbieten”. Tell us which vehicle it concerns, how many photos you have, and whether you took them yourself. Don’t send any files yet; the form doesn’t accept attachments.
- We reply — usually within a few days, with a clear yes or no and an address to send the photos to.
- We clarify usage in writing — a brief image agreement by email, which you confirm. It’s archived. An email from us alone would not constitute an agreement.
- The image appears — with your name as the author, right alongside the image.
Your rights
THE ESSENTIALS IN FIVE POINTS
- Copyright remains entirely with you. We do not acquire it and do not claim it.
- We receive a simple right of use — not an exclusive one. You may continue to use, sell, and give the same image to others yourself.
- We credit you — with the name you provide, right alongside the image.
- The scope is limited to s14.de, our newsletter, and posts on social networks that link to the article. For anything beyond that, we’ll ask again.
- You can withdraw at any time — without notice and without giving a reason. We’ll then remove the image.
We do not pay a fee. We’d rather state that clearly than leave it open. What you get is credit and visibility for your vehicle in an article that takes it seriously.
The one condition
It has to be your image. This isn’t a formality, but the one point where both sides genuinely have something at stake: whoever distributes an image is liable for it — even if they received it from someone else in good faith.
That’s why we ask you to confirm that you took the photo yourself or hold the rights to it, and that no third-party rights stand in the way. We cannot accept images from forums, other websites, sales listings, or manufacturer archives — not even if they’re freely accessible.
If people are clearly recognisable, please let us know. We’ll then clarify that separately.
What makes an image usable
| Point | What helps |
|---|---|
| Resolution | Long edge of at least around 2,000 pixels. More is better, less we’ll discuss case by case. |
| Original rather than export | Send us the original file, not the version downloaded from a social network. |
| No third-party watermarks | Your own signature is fine — just let us know whether it should stay. |
| Leave capture data in place | EXIF data helps us document the date taken and authorship. |
| Details about the vehicle | Model, year of manufacture, colour, notable features. The more precise, the less we have to guess. |
