Farewell, carburettor
From July 1978, the 528i with Bosch L-Jetronic replaced the carburettor 528: cleaner throttle response, more power, lower consumption. With the large six-cylinder, it was the sporting flagship of the model line until the M535i.
Today, the 528i is the most drivable everyday E12 — provided the bodywork cooperates, since 1970s rust protection is the real test.
