Twelve cylinders as a statement
The 850i launched the model line in 1989: the M70 V12 with 5.0 litres and 300 PS, optionally with a six-speed manual gearbox — a sensation for a luxury coupé at the time. In 1994 it became the 850Ci with the 5.4-litre M73 and 326 PS.
Our photos show a red 850Ci in standard condition — from the characteristic wedge front to the pop-up headlights, the design statement of its era.

Buying advice in brief
Electronics condition is decisive: control units, wiring harnesses, pop-up headlights. Budget double for V12 maintenance; manual gearbox comes at a premium, but also adds value.
