Where the E9 line begins
The 2800 CS opened the E9 model line in 1968: the new 2.8-litre M30 with 170 PS in the coupé body built by Karmann, whose lines are still considered among the most beautiful of the brand today.
In 1971 the 3.0 CS took over — and via the CSL, the elegant touring coupé became a motorsport legend. The 2800 CS is the quiet origin of this story, with 6,283 units (plus 1,949 automatic CSA) not that rare after all, but well-preserved cars are scarce.
